These paintings are an exploration of the periods of time between life’s transitions.
As humans we are intrinsically complex. Our lives are easily fragmented by choices and commitments. Coping with the enormity of daily living, not to mention the huge transitions we face during different periods in our lives.
These paintings are about those periods of peace and oneness, when things seem to come together, easily and quietly, without force or conflict.
When I use a rope in my work I am using it to symbolize the idea that the choices we have made in our past affect our present, and the choices we make today will affect our future. Therefore the rope represents the continuum of choice.
